Agroforstsysteme in Ostfriesland? Rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen und die Perspektive von Akteuren aus Naturschutz und Landwirtschaft

Agroforestry systems are one way of promoting woody vegetation in the agricultural landscape. While hedgerows (‘Wallhecken’) are characteristic of East Frisia, woody vegetation is rarely found in the agricultural landscape today. Therefore, the question arises which legal options exist to preserve and promote woody vegetation. Based on semi-structured interviews with actors from nature conservation and agriculture, this study uses the example of East Frisia to provide insights into the different perspectives on agroforestry systems and the legal framework. Moreover, it is discussed what the example of East Frisia implies for the revision of the legal framework.
